In 2016 ALCANTARA SYSTEMS began the implementation of the Pilot Complex Project for Agricultural Production through Geothermal Integration in Touggourt (Algeria). This is a comprehensive agri-food project that Alcantara Systems is carrying out for the National Office of Irrigation and Drainage (ONID), located in the city of Touggourt (Algeria).
The project covers an area of 250 hectares, to be developed in three phases, dedicated to greenhouse vegetable production. Of this area, 40 hectares are for hydroponic cultivation using geothermal energy for heating. The project incorporates state-of-the-art agricultural technologies and includes a commercial handling and distribution center.
Its first phase consists of the following actions:
Start-up of 10 hectares of greenhouses for hydroponic cultivation.
Construction and commissioning of two reservoirs with a capacity of 10,000 m3 each, with an Automated Remote Control Center for the Fertigation Stations.
Installation and commissioning of a seedbed with an area of 8,192 m2, automated with climate control.
Start-up of the FRUIT AND VEGETABLE HANDLING CENTER for the treatment and marketing of agricultural production from the project and other producers.
Construction of Four Industrial Buildings.
Project Management and Marketing for 3 years of the Project.
